செவ்வாய் செந்தமிழ்: ‘எனக்கே விபூதி பூசறியா நீ?’

அப்பா எப்போதும் திருநீறு பட்டை அணியாமல் இருந்ததில்லை. பழனி சித்தனாதன் விபூதியை வாங்கி, சில சமயங்களில் அதில் ஜவ்வாதும் கலந்து வைத்திருப்பார். காலையில் குளித்துவிட்டு வந்து வலக்கை ஆள்காட்டி விரலால் Calcium Sandoz டப்பாவிலிருந்து விபூதியை எடுத்து இடது உள்ளங்கையில் போட்டுக் கொண்டு, அதில் ஒன்றரை உத்தருணி தண்ணீரை விட்டு, கொஞ்சம் திக்கான பால் பாயசம் பதத்தில் குழைத்து நெற்றி, மார்பு, வயிறு, கைகள் என 3 Lines of Defence ≡≡≡ போட்டுக் கொண்டு, பின்னர் சிலபல சுலோகங்களை (ஆதித்ய ஹிருதயம் must) சொல்லிவிட்டுத்தான் வேலூர் ESIC ஆபீசுக்குக் கிளம்புவார். சாயங்காலம் திரும்பவும் அதேதான். (ஆ.ஹி. மட்டும் மாலையில் கிடையாது.) 

பூவோடு சேர்ந்த நாராக நாமும் மணந்தது பலநாள். பட்டையோடு வெளியே வரும் போது ‘டேய், ஐயரு வந்துட்டாண்டா!’ என்று பசங்க கிண்டல் பண்ணிய போதும், சிரித்துக் கொண்டே, ‘டேய், முதலியார்! போடா!’ என்றோ, ‘ரஃபீக், பிரியாணி சாப்பிட்டியா?’ என்ற அன்றைய பதில்-கிண்டலிலும் வன்மமோ, வேதனையோ இருந்ததில்லை!

வருடங்கள் ஓட ஓட அந்த மூன்று வரிகள் கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாகக் குறைந்து, மறைந்து, இப்போது ஒரு சிறு புள்ளியாக நெற்றியில் மத்தியில் இலியானா இடுப்பு மாதிரி இருந்தும் இல்லாமலும் ஆகிவிட்டது. ••••

ஆனா, நமக்கு வாய்த்த அம்மணி கொஞ்சம் இந்த ஒரு விஷயத்தில் அவங்க மாமியார் மாதிரி. எந்த கோவிலுக்குப் போயிட்டு வந்தாலும், அந்த விபூதியை ஒரு டப்பாவுல போட்டு பத்திரமா பூஜை அறையிலே ஒளிச்சு வெச்சு…

ஆக, பொங்கல் அன்னிக்கு அந்த அலமாரியைத் திறந்தா… ஒரு பத்து டப்பா!!! 🧴🧴🧴🧴🧴🧴🧴🧴🧴🧴

ஓபன் பண்ணினா… எல்லாத்துலேயும் விபூதி! டிசைன் டிசைனா, ரகம் ரகமா, கலர் கலரா, எங்கெங்கு காணினும் விபூதியடா! நான் அப்படியே ஷாக் ஆயிட்டேன்! அதுக்கு labeling வேற! 📔

‘ஏம்மா! பச்சை டப்பாவுலே எதுவும் எழுதலியேன்னு’ கேட்டா, ‘அது திருவான்மியூர் மருந்தீஸ்வர்ரோட விபூதி! ஏதாவது பிரச்சினைன்னா அதுதான் default!’ எனக்கு லேசா தலை சுத்திடுச்சு!

எதுக்கும்மா இவ்வளவுன்னா…

• உடம்பு சரியில்லைன்னா மருந்தீஸ்வரர் (கூடவே default)
• மனசு சரியில்லைன்னா கைலாசம்
• பயம் வந்தா ஐயப்பன்
• பணத்துக்கு பத்துமலை முருகன்
• கோவம் குறைக்க திருவண்ணாமலை
• பைத்தியம் போக பினாங்கு
• பயம் போக கதிர்காமம் (தெனாலி effect!)

எதுக்கும்மா இவ்வளவு சாமின்னா… ‘ஒருத்தர் மறந்துட்டா இன்னொருத்தர் பார்த்துப்பாரு, இல்லையா’ன்னு பதில்!

’பிரம்மம் ஒக்கடே! ஒருவனே தேவன்! அஹம் ப்ரஹ்மாஸ்மி, இப்படி எல்லாம் சொல்லியிருக்காங்களே!’ 🛕

’ஆமா! இந்தியா கிரிக்கெட்டுலே ஒரு ஆட்டம் தோத்துட்டாலே மூஞ்சி செங்குரங்கு மாதிரி ஆயிடும்! இதுலே உங்களுக்கு ஆத்ம விசாரம் வேறயா?’ 😆

அதுக்கப்புறம் என்னத்த சொல்றது…?

திருஞானசம்பந்தர் பாடின நீறு பாட்டு பாடிட்டுப் போக வேண்டியதுதான்! 📿

அருத்தம தாவது நீறு

அவலம் அறுப்பது நீறு

வருத்தந் தணிப்பது நீறு

வானம் அளிப்பது நீறு

பொருத்தம தாவது நீறு

புண்ணியர் பூசும்வெண் ணீறு

திருத்தகு மாளிகை சூழ்ந்த

திருஆல வாயான் திருநீறே!

//Vibhuti is meaning itself; cutting through sorrow, easing suffering, quieting grief, and lifting the soul skyward.  It truly befits the noble and the saint, the sacred ash they wear. Pray to it – the vibhooti worn by Lord Shiva of Madurai!//

Vibhooti – holy ash, is one of the religious symbols Hindus wear with pride, signifying the ephemeral nature of life: ashes to ashes and all that. Unsurprisingly, this leads to hoarding at home, with vibhooti lovingly collected from temple visits all over.

Last week, during an excavation of the pooja room, I struck gold. Well, ash. Nearly a dozen boxes surfaced, each tracing its origins to a different sacred stop: Kailash, Thiruvannamalai, Kadhirgamam, Batu Caves, Penang, Sabarimala, a truly global collection.

‘Why do we need so much?’ Wifey had a reason for every box: this one for health, that one for mental peace, another for protection almost like a doctor prescribing different medicines for different ailments.

But I ploughed on without realizing the danger by suggesting that Hinduism (or Sanatana Dharma, as is fashionable these days) speaks of One God, often residing within oneself. The stare that followed was enough to turn me into vibhooti. 😉

Next step. Retreat to the verses of Shaivite saint Thirugnanasambandar, who extolled vibhooti as the ultimate abstraction of the spiritual journey, from form to powder.
